Ferndale Specific Resources

This is a page for folks who want to volunteer to help folks in need during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Ferndale Food Bank is operating as normal, with some modifications to how folks choose and pick up food. Open Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, 9 am-11 am.

Whatcom County Resources

This is a place for people who need help and those who can help to connect.

Tomorrow, May 1st, starting at 8 am, Opportunity Council will begin taking requests for Rental Assistance for people experiencing economic hardship due to COVID-19. For more information and to be screened for this program please call (360) 734-5121 ext 316. This extension is a voicemail line. Clients should call once and leave a message stating name, return phone number, and if there are minor children in the household. Voicemails will be returned in the order they are received.  

To be eligible clients need to have experienced economic hardship due to COVID-19 (job loss, reduced hours, etc,), be below 60% Average Median Income for household size, be on a lease and have a ledger from their landlord showing current rent due. Final eligibility will be determined by an Opportunity Council Case Manager.

The program is limited and appointments will be scheduled with clients who screen through on a first come first serve basis.

  • Molina waives COVID related expenses

If you have Molina as your insurance provider, they have announced that some expenses related to COVID-19 (the testing and the office visit) to encourage more people to go to the doctor and get tested when they have symptoms.

Education Resources

Comcast has an internet plan called Internet Essentials for low income households. The regular price is about $10 a month. They are offering this plan FREE for 60 days due to school closures related to COVID-19. Follow the link above to see if you qualify and to sign up.

Khan Academy is a non-profit that provides free, quality online instruction in a variety of topics for all learning levels.
